1:1 Wheel Throwing Intensive

£150.00

Elaine will teach you 1:1 in her home studio in the beautiful village of Midlem in the heart of the Scottish Borders.

Perfect for beginners, or those who want to build confidence in their skills throwing on a wheel.

Elaine is a qualified Art Teacher and has many years of supporting learners with additional support needs. She can adapt her teaching style to suit your own learning style or any additional needs you may have. Please reach out to chat this through.

Elaine will work with you in a gentle, and supportive hands-on 4 hour session(*). You will learn how to prepare the clay for throwing, practice centring on the wheel, learn the foundations of throwing cylinders on the wheel and will form various vessels.

You will select your favourite three vessels which Elaine will bisque fire for you.

You will be offered options to have Elaine glaze your items for an additional charge (£5 per item), or you can return for another tutorial on glazing.

*Elaine is happy to split the four hour session into two parts to give you the opportunity to learn a wider range of skills. 2 ½ hrs Throwing, and 1 ½ hrs Glazing.

Alternatively you can collect the bisqued items to apply your own cold finish at home. Acrylic paint can be used to lovely decorative effects, and can be sealed to provide a waterproof finish. (Cold finished items are not considered food safe or suitable for outdoors).

Dates can be arranged to suit.
